Vote on sales tax would 'kill' Vikings stadium project in Arden Hills, lawmaker says

While the state is deciding whether or not to put the question before voters on november 12, 2012, viking officials believe that the county is highly unlikely to vote yes for the vaikings stadium. Also regardless of the vote their would be a large delay prompting the Minnesota vikings to move locations if they were willing. The stadium plan calls for the county to come up with $350 million for the stadium, the state to chip in $300 million and the Vikings $407 million or more. Under state permission the county officials can pay the money without having a public vote. No one is exactly sure how the vote would turn out. Their could be an offer for the vikings to move states which may prompt people to vote yes to the stadium or their could be a large anti-stadium movement do to the high costs and the proposal would get shut down.

Ruby Bridges

Ruby Bridges was born in Mississippi in 1954. She grew up on a farm during hard times and her dad heard that there were better living opportunities in the city so they moved there. Under federal court order, New Orleans public schools were forced to desegregate. In 1960 the black kindergarteners in the city took a test to see if they would be move to a white school and Ruby passed. When she arrived there was an angry mob there yelling, but she was protected by the state marshals. When she got into the school all of the white parents took their kids out and ruby was the only one in the school. finally as the school year progressed more and more of the kids started coming back until the class was back to it's normal number.

Nearly 600 firefighters working BWCA wildfire

300 more fire fighters and several more vehicles  have been brought in to help fight the wildfire in northern minnasota. This help has increased the control over the fire from 11% to 19%. Also forcasted rain is expected to help the firefighters further control the fire. This is relieving news to me because it means that the fire is staying away from the residential areas and is continuously getting smaller. The fire was started by a lightning strike on August 18 and what expected to be a mall blaze slowly grew into a roaring forest fire.

A school shooting in Jonesboro, Arkansas, kills five

On March 24 1998 two boys Andrew Golden 11 and Mitchell Johnson 13 hid in an area outside of their school gym with firearms. Once the kids and teachres filed out of the gym they opened fire on the crowd killing 4 students and a teacher while wounding 10 others. The boys were later found with a stolen an containing 13 firearms, a hunting crossbow, and several hunting knives. Their motives are unknown. The angle that I would take from this story is through an interview with the parents of the deceased children, the parents of the shooters, and the shooters themselves now that they are released. I would try and make it an unusual human interest story about why they did it and how it affected everyone.

Arkansas courthouse gunman walked into building unopposed

In little rock Arkansas-A gun man by the name of James Ray Palmer walked through the front door armed with a tactical vest and 3 semi-automatic rifles. No one was killed by Palmer who's apparrent target being judge Gary Corttrell, but Palmer was killed after a gunfight with the police and the building recieved much damage to historical photographs, walls, and doors.
This artical goes to show the need for greater security measures on sites such as courthouses. People who are witnessing should be able to witness without the fear of being shot while doing it.

This Criteria is unusual because courthouses don't usually get inflitrated by a gunman and timely because it happened yesterday.

BWCA fire: 80,000 acres and growing

Starting as a lightning strike on August 18 and ending up in a blazing wildfire the fire decimating acres of woodland. Authorites would normally let the fie burn because it is actually beneficial to the forests and parks but the fire is has spread within 10 miles of residential area and over 200 personall and 11 aircraft are now working to contain the fire. Wildfire stories always make me nervous because of how unpredictable they can be. This one makes me even more nervous that it's located in Minnasota. Though nervous I'm not to particularly worried that the fire will get out of hand because of how many people are working on it and how much easier it is to put out the fires with todays technology, but mistakes happens so who knows what could happen.

Video games: Google+ isn't playing around

The new social network Google+ has started to add games in order to better compete with facbook. I believe that although this may increase the google plus users who wanted to try Google+ but were intereseted in the games concept, I still don't believe that this will cause google to make any sort of breakthrough or sudden large increase in new users. Facebook has been the leading social network for several years now and many people feel that moving from one social network to another is to much of a hassle to be worth it. I still don't think all is lost for google; while I don't believe googles new games addition may increase users much., I do believe that google has other features that may keep them in the competition with facebook. For starters Google can connect Google+ with their popular search engine and with Gmail to have an upper hand with something that Facebook doesn't have. Google definitely isn't out of the race yet.

Vikings lose season opening after a hopeful opening

Thirty-nine yards passsing was Mcnabb's total of the entire game, 37 minutes was the total minutes of possession for the Chargers offense, and five missed tacklse in one drive were but a few of the numbers from yesterdays game. Yet through a large portion of the game the vikings were actually winning starting with  103 yard kick return by Percy Harvin in the first kick return of the season. As the 4th quarter came around and the teams were tied the Chargers inched up the field making each first down while taking a lot of time to do. By the time the vikings got possession the chargers were leading by 7 and a forced punt seals the vikings fate.

Information gleened from an Al-Qaida senior official states that Al-Qaida is planning to detonate a vehicle-borne bomb in Washington or New York City around Sunday's 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The Pentagon believes this report to be especially to due to the fact that Osama Bin Laden had been fixiated on attacking the United States again sometime on September 11. Russians Search for Crashed Plane's Date Recorder

A plane crash in Russia killed 43 people and 36 of the people were part of one of the top hockey teams in Russia. Experts blame the problems on old aircraft, weak government controls, poor pilot training and a cost-cutting mentality. Investigators are still not exactly sure what caused the plane to crash into the volga river, but workers are currently trying to raise the tail in order to get one of the plane's on-board recorders.

Eric Olson

From My five minute interview with Eric Olson I have learned much more than I ever expected to learn in that short amount of time. The first thing I learned was the basics; Eric has two siblings, and older sister and a younger brother. He also enjoys, and is very good at programming but he doesn't watch TV. One thing that he can do that most people wouldn't believe is throw his hat 30 meters, (90 feet). He also really enjoys music and band. He's on the color guard in marching band, and once that ends he plays trombone in band. His favorite daw was his first day of high school, and his  favorite vacation was a train ride up north. Eric ended up surprising me with many facts that I didn't know before.
